We decided to make the most of our drive home, by taking a slight detour to stop off at Carlsbad Caverns with my parents.
The boys are all big cave enthusiasts.
There were so many interesting formations.
They called the stalactites seen hanging here Lion's Tails because they are smooth near the top and middle, but "fuzzy" at the bottom.
These "soda straws" were among our favorites.
The best thing about going early on a Sunday morning was that we practically had the whole place to ourselves. It was peaceful and easy to see everything.
Our last Roadside America stop for this trip was at this Antler Tree in Junction, Texas. Matthew and Jacob jumped out to count the points on the different racks that are all hung together in the shape of a tree. It was a good quick stop not too far from home.
