To wrap up the semester and celebrate the holiday season, Andrew and Matthew both had holiday parties. Unfortunately they were at the same time, so I was only able to stop in for a few minutes at each party. Both boys had fun snacks and played games.
I arrived at the beginning of Matthew's party. His class was making nutcrackers from Pringles cans and various craft materials.
He ended up making his into a soldier nutcracker.
He was eager to show off his giant nutcracker picture as well. It is now hanging in his room at home.
Meanwhile, Andrew's class was celebrating too. When I was there, they were playing the Chocolate Game. The game begins with a large chocolate bar that has been wrapped in paper. The students have a knife, fork, a hat, sunglasses and a scarf. Each child takes turns rolling a dice. When one rolls a 6, they have to put on the hat, scarf and glasses and then use the knife and fork to open the chocolate bar and then, if they are lucky, cut a piece of chocolate off and eat it.
Andrew got lucky while I was there and rolled a 6. He even managed to cut off a large piece of chocolate before someone else rolled a 6. It was a fun-filled frenzy of fifth graders. (How about that alliteration?) :)
