Summer Wrap Up

Summer is coming to a close.  The boys only have two more weekdays before school starts, so my friend Rene and I decided to take our children to one of the neighborhood pools.
Jacob enjoyed the "Butterfly Slide."
The older kids had three bigger slides to choose from.  That is Matthew flying out the slide on the left. Jacob did not hesitate to let me know that he is big enough to go on those slides despite the pool rules.  He was quite upset that he wasn't allowed to slide on the big slides.
The last ten minutes of every hour are designated as a safety break.  The boys took that time to observe (and feed) the turtles that live in the lake that is adjacent to the pool.
They were particularly fascinated by an extremely large Pancake Turtle, also known as an Eastern Spiny Softshell Turtle.  My estimate is that it is at least 2 feet from head to tail.
It was fun to spend time with friends before we get back into the school routine.
