Today was another gymnastics meet at the George R. Brown Convention Center. It was a large meet with 71 boys competing at Andrew's level. There were several out of state teams and even one team competing at a higher level that travelled from China.
Andrew tied for 3rd place on the Pommel Horse!
When there is a tie, the score keepers look at the All Around scores for the competitors. The gymnast with the highest All Around score gets the highest place in the standings. Andrew was tied with two other boys.
Based on the All Around scores, he ended up with 5th place officially.
Officially, he received the 14th place medal.

I just included this picture of our gymnast because I like it.

It's that crooked, little smile. Braces here we come!

Andrew did make his coach earn his pay today. On the Parallel Bars, he had a great routine...until the dismount. As he was going into his handstand to dismount, he accidentally bent his arms and did an unintentional pirouette. This sent him falling backwards towards the edge of the mats. Coach Adam had quick reactions though and caught him. He did get a little talk afterwards about keeping his arms straight.
This is Andrew receiving his Pommel medal.
He ended up 23rd in the All Around standings. He said he had a great time!
