World War II Valor in the Pacific National Monument

This morning, we flew into Oahu to do a little more sight seeing before we fly home.  Kay and Tom hired a bus driver to make our 12 hours on Oahu much more efficient.
Our first stop was Pearl Harbor.
This national park has undergone a renovation since Paul and I were here last.
It was a somber, yet educational experience.  The older children really seem to have a better understanding of the importance of this event in American history.
After visiting the USS Arizona, we drove over to the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, also known as the Punchbowl. This beautiful place is a memorial to the men and women who have served our country in the armed forces or government.
We checked out the location of the fictional show Hawaii 5-0,
and we took in a few local Christmas decorations.
We finished our evening at Waikiki with a good meal and a little shopping.  Jacob even managed to catch a ride on Grant's back.

We had a wonderful vacation with grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.  Everyone got along so well and seemed to enjoy each other's company.  Thank you, Kay and Tom for your generosity in making this trip possible!

Mele Kalikimaka and Hau’oli Makahiki Hou!
(Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!)
