Happy First Birthday, Jacob!

It is hard to believe, but a year ago today, our sweet baby, Jacob was born!

Andrew and Matthew adored him from the moment they met him. They are both proud big brothers to him.

On Saturday, we had a birthday party for him with family and a few friends. He handled all of the excitement remarkably well. He even kept his party hat on for quite a while much to my surprise. I'm sure he wondered about all of the extra attention he was receiving.

We all sang "Happy Birthday" to him and he danced in his chair. Then he received his first cupcake. At first he wasn't sure about it, but he managed to make a big mess just as we planned. The rest of us enjoyed his #1 cake and ice cream without the added touch of his little hands.

After the fun inside, we all headed to the backyard for a pinata. Of course it was more fun for the older kids, but Jacob took a couple of good swings before the big kids went after it. Lots of candy was had by all.

Jacob wasn't sure what to do with the gifts at first, but Andrew and Matthew were eager to show him how it is done! He enjoyed the ribbons and paper as much as the gifts. It was a great day!
