When I mentioned to Andrew that I was going to volunteer at a "Literacy Carnival" hosted by the Junior League of North Harris and South Montgomery Counties, he asked if he could come. The Literacy Carnival is a free event for children who are not likely to have books in their homes. The prizes for the games are mostly books. I explained that he would need to help, not run around the carnival playing, but he was still eager to help. He manned the Lollipop Tree station for two hours and then helped clean up for another hour. He received quite a few compliments on his attendance and diligence. Hopefully, this will spark more interest in him to continue to help those in need.
