Matthew didn't have school today so we decided to go for a walk. We came upon the remnants of a large pine tree that is a victim of Hurricane Ike. From this side it doesn't look like much...
However, this side is a different story. There are many trees like this one in our community. The ground was saturated and the winds were so strong that lots of trees were completely up-ended roots and all. This is just one that is enormous. One statistic stated that more than 13,000 trees were lost in our community alone. It is such a shame to have lost so many, but that is part of nature I guess.
