Our house doesn't have a utility room or a mud room, so I have had a shelf in the garage for all of the shoes to go on. What really happens though is the shoes are all on the floor of the garage and we trip over them, so after a year and a half of that, I decided it was time for a change.
I forgot to take an actual "before picture", but this one shows the shelf in the background.
After a trip to the Container Store, Paul and I invested in our own little mudroom in the garage. Paul installed it in about an hour. It has a basket for each of the boys' shoes and it has a place for them to hang their backpacks. It also has a spot for the many baseball caps we had laying around and a spot for Andrew's instrument.
I am beyond thrilled. It is the little things that make me happy. I would take this over jewelry or flowers any day.
