On Friday night, while Paul and I were at the Hope Under the Stars benefit, we got the call that parents dread. It was the gymnastics coach saying Andrew had hurt his arm. He was attempting a round off, back handspring, back layout, a skill he has done many times in the past, and he didn't have enough power to complete the layout. He accidentally put his left arm down to catch himself, and he and his coach heard a "pop."

We left the party and headed straight over there to assess the situation. When we go there he was still in a lot of pain, but he was able to move it. We weren't sure if it was broken, or if it was just a soft tissue type injury. We iced it, gave him some pain medication and Paul wrapped it. We called our friend who is an orthopedic surgeon. He said he wanted to see Andrew in the office for x-rays today.
After looking at the x-rays, the doctor thinks Andrew has cracked his humorous bone near the elbow. The x-rays are not 100% conclusive, but all other signs indicate that is what happened. He wants to see Andrew back in the office next Monday for more x-rays. Until then, he has a splinted arm in a sling and some time off gymnastics. Never a dull moment around here!

He'll be back up to speed in no time, I bet!
Boys are unbelievably fearless! I'm glad he is okay. Feel better soon, Andrew!
