Today was Jacob's first day of preschool. He was so excited. He feels so big to have his own backpack. He HAD to carry it in himself and he said, "My backpack!" to everyone he saw. Eventually, he will grow into that backpack. He could probably fit inside it right now.
He went into class with no problems. He was more interested in the parakeets named Pete and Tweet that are part of the class than worrying about what I was doing.
He went straight over to the toy kitchen area and started playing with the microwave. He is completely fascinated by it because it really lights up and turns around inside when you push the button.
The only tears he had were after school when I tried to carry his backpack for him. He is determined to do it by himself! I know this won't be the last time he asserts his independence.
