On Saturday, we went to a birthday party for Matthew's good friend, Sam. There was bowling, pizza and games. Matthew is a good bowler. He got several spares. He had a great time!
Jacob loves anything that involves a ball. He took one look at the bowling balls and he HAD to join the fun. The balls probably weighed 6 or 7 pounds, but that didn't stop him from picking them up. He spent a little while handing the balls to the big kids as they needed them. Then he had to give it a try himself. The bowling alley doesn't have bowling shoes in a small enough size for Jacob, but they gave him the okay to bowl in his favorite shoes, his boots! He used a couple of different techniques including kicking the ball.
In the event that you have never tried it, I would not recommend chasing a toddler down a bowling lane. After one throw, maybe Jacob's curiosity got the better of him or maybe he wanted that ball back, but whatever it was, he took off running down the middle of the lane. My automatic response was to chase him and get him out of there as quickly as possible. Big mistake! Bowling lanes are super slippery! I went down and Jacob did too. He did bump his head, but managed to recover quickly. As for me, my pride is still pretty bruised, otherwise I'm fine.
