Ice Skating

Every year our community has an ice skating rink from the middle of November to the middle of January. The boys have been dying to go since it was put up, but Andrew's arm being in a cast and then Christmas in Austin delayed things a bit.
Now that Andrew's arm is healed and Christmas is past, we decided to go. We arrived right when they opened, so it was not at all crowded.
Jacob started out with regular skates, so he spent most of the time in Paul's arms or falling down.
He staged a protest insisting that the skates come off!
Once we switched him to skates with two blades that strapped to his shoes, he did much better.  He even said, "You can go now, Mommy.  I will do this by myself."

Andrew went out there with enthusiasm.  He tried hard and wasn't afraid to fall.
Matthew got his bearings by hanging onto the wall,
but he quickly got the hang of it.  It turned out he was the last one standing.

What a fun way to start out the new year!
