When you have a baby, everyone says the time will fly by and they are right. It is hard to believe, but our first born is half way to his senior year of high school!
This was Andrew on his original birthday.
Here he is as a handsome 9 year old!
One of our birthday traditions is to let the birthday boy choose where he would like to go out to dinner. We had plans to be out of town on the night of his birthday so we took him to dinner the night before. He chose Johnny Rockets so we all enjoyed burgers, fries and shakes. They announced his birthday to everyone in the restaurant and sang "Happy Birthday" to him.
Paul and I joined him at school for lunch time.
For his birthday treat at school, Paul and I took sugar cookies for him to pass out to his classmates. After lunch, we took him home and headed out of town to see friends and family.
When we got to Nana's house, Andrew was surprised to find a beautiful birthday cake waiting for him. Nana had made Andrew's "perfect birthday cake". He didn't even want us to cut it. Eventually, his stomach convinced him that it was time to enjoy it.
After Nana's house, we headed over to Mimi's house to have pizza and cake with friends and family...
...followed by the opening of presents.
A fun night out + two cakes+ two dozen sugar cookies + a few presents + lots of friends and family = a great 9th birthday!
Every year is a gift for us to discover more and more about the wonderful person Andrew is becoming.
