Our Trip to the Butterfly Museum

On Monday, the kids were out of school for MLK Day. Usually we end up wasting the day, but this time I decided that we should take advantage of one of the many great places to go in our area. Our friends Abby and Sam joined us for this outing to the Museum of Natural Science. We enjoyed the Butterfly Museum, the IMAX movie "Fly Me to the Moon", as well as the dinosaur bones, gems, and a chemistry demonstration.

Taking a ride on a caterpillar

Jacob was eager to point out the butterflies he saw. It is hard to see it, but there is a butterfly on the path. He was amazingly gentle when one landed on his hand. He just watched until it flew away.

Our "Busy Bees" had fun in the play area. Jacob wouldn't stay in his part of the hive long enough to catch him on camera. Too many flowers to pollinate I guess.

On a side note... as you can see, my camera is having issues. The pictures are all coming out blurry despite changing the settings. I missed a bunch of great photo ops on this trip. I guess it is time to take it in for a check up.

I wish I had known you were coming out this way. I live just 25 minutes from the museum district. Let me know if you plan a day like that again!
